Varsity Volleyball Takes Down Wayland Union
W 25-20, 32-30, 25-22
Tuesday night the Pioneers continued conference play traveling to Wayland Union. It was a special night where the teams wore pink for Breast Cancer Awareness and played in honor of someone they know who has been challenged by Cancer. Our team played for family friends and relatives, many also chose to play for Matt Fouch, a member of the EGR community and Football coaching staff.
The team Pioneers served tough all night, rarely allowing Wayland to get a quality serve receive pass. We finished with 10 team aces on the night with Abby Williams tallying 5 aces of her own.
Our defense got back on track last night by racking up 63 digs. 33 of those digs were in a tough fought set 2 that finished 32-30. The Wildcats were having a tough time scoring no matter how they tried to send the ball over. Gracie Gorsline led East with 24 digs.
East's offense was highlighted by both of our middles, Becca Meyer-Rasmussen and Conally Cooper, who both notched 6 kills on the night. Meyer-Rasmussen also led the team in with a .400 hitting percentage and Cooper led the team with 4 blocks.
The team will pick up conference play again on Tuesday Oct 29 hosting Forrest Hills Eastern. F/JV at 5:30. Varsity at 6:30.
